Beijing Capital International
Airport is the most important international airport in
terms of its location, size, facilities and transportation.
It plays a key role as a gateway to the outside world.
The Beijing Capital International Airport will be revamped
before 2008 Beijing Olympics. The updated airport will
become an air transportation hub across northeast Asia,
with the annual passenger capacity of 60 to 80 million,
half a million flights and 4.8 million-ton cargo. As the
most important part of the airport extension, Ta Tong
Guan Base integrates the latest ideas by developing client-oriented
designs. The new designs updated the operation procedures
and reinvented the functional areas. The efficient customs
supervision is used to add efficiency to freight flow,
document flow and information flow. No efforts are spared
to cut the operational costs to a minimum. The Ta Tong
Guan is designed to provide one-stop service to clients
such as airline companies, express firms, and cargo
forwarding agent
With a view to share resource and advantages, Beijing
Capital Airport Group ventured with Hong Kong Taihong
Logistics Development Co., Ltd..based on principles “Joint
planning, Joint investment, Joint building, Joint operation,
and Profit sharing”. The joint venture, named Hanggang
Logistics Development Co., Ltd., is to build the Ta Tong
Guan Base.
Ta Tong Guan Base is designed with
planned cargo handling capacity of 4.80 million tons in
2025. The project involves more than RMB 6billion investment
about 32.3 million square feet. the first phase of project
is designed to handle 2.20 million tons in 2015. The project
consists of air freight zone, air mail zone, custom work
zone, tax-free logistics center (B) and one stop office
zone and necessary service zone. It is designed by DISTRICON
and AMB, world renowned air logistics designing institutions.
Consulting service is provided by Hong Kong airport authority.
The construction of Ta Tong Guan Base is an important
part of implementation of Beijing Overall Planning. It
is essential to build up urban infrastructure, improve
the Olympics facilities and industrial structure. During
the construction of the project, valuable supports were
given from NDRC, General Administration of Civil Aviation
of China, Ministry of Commerce of China, Beijing Municipal
Government and local government. Mr. Liu Zhihua, vice
mayor even heads the project for further support. Ta Tong
Guan project is scheduled to start at 2006 and, the first
stage will be put into operation before the end of 2007,
which is expected to provide first rate service for Olympic
Games.
